On December 4, Maribel, along with a large group seeking $15 per hour and union rights
for fast food workers, picketed a McDonald’s location in downtown Los Angeles.

She needs to be careful as McDonalds is experiencing financial problems and are looking
for ways to reduce cost which includes labor. McD has just experienced 14 staight months
of declining sales. Major changes are coming in efforts to turn the McD ship around.
Look for the PTB (powers that be) at the corporate level to be actively looking at instituting greater numbers of self-order and self-pay kiosks. I know some casual restaurants have them. They make re-ordering drinks a breeze and paying the bill a snap. I would also hazard a guess that it makes it easier to have a smaller wait staff.
