The area is ripe for it, but I believe the problem is that it is in the watersheds that provide the drinking water to much of the state. This has been an issue for years, as NYers watched neighboring Pennsylvanians get rich leasing their land to fracking outfits.

Only some of it - the area north of 88 (my daughter and son in law live there) is not in the watershed. There is no excuse for Cuomo’s horrible decision. The area is desparate for jobs and struggling in poverty, and Cuomo caters to Manhattan.

My daughter is a nurse and our son in law has diary cows, so they are OK, but many of their neighbors are struggling.
