Cuba and Iran are allies. This is like normalizing relations with Iran.

If Nixon could normalize relations with Mao's China and Reagan could normalize relations with the Soviet Union, I fail to see why having diplomatic relations with Cuba (or even Iran) would be so much worse (and incidentally - Saudi Arabia does more to sponsor jihad and radical Islam abroad than Iran has ever dreamed of).

Is Obama the right person to do it? Of course not, because he'll do it from a position of weakness rather than strength. But because something is being done by the wrong man for the job doesn't mean that the job itself is wrong.
