Russia backed off then just like they will always back off every time we stand up to them.

Winter, and the destruction of 2/3rds of Ukraine’s military hardware is more responsible for that, than anything else.
Both sides are rearming, so have no fear, it will light up again in the spring, IMHO.
(IF Kiev isn’t on fire again by then from the internal politics)
