Fifteen thousand people marched in the eastern German city of Dresden on Monday (15 December) in protest against "asylum cheaters" and the rising "Islamisation" of the West.
Marking a 50% rise in attendance since the demonstration last Monday, the founder of the Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the Occident (PEGIDA), Lutz Bachmann, addressed the protestors saying: "The people are with us! Everywhere now, in every news rag, on every senseless talk show, they are debating, and the most important thing is: the politicians can no longer ignore us!"We have shown by taking another 'little stroll', and by growing in numbers, that we're on the right path, and that slowly, very slowly, something is beginning to change in this country."
it could be just innate Brit politeness and understatement..
“The People”. Das Volk have a primal claim of place.

Well when they find stone and flint arrow heads—they are likely made by their ancestors.
Not like here in America.
As much as Germany’s past is a stain on that country, and it definitely is;
it is nice to see young Germans finally developing a friggin’ spine again. The right is rising in Germany.
The Germans, Norse folk and ‘Diggers’ how far they have fallen from the Man’s men of old.
So has Hitler so legitimized the Germans that it is immoral for them to defend their homeland against the invading Moslems?
If that’s true— we are worse than dead here in America.
Americans need to hit the streets—all of us—Millions—shut down the government—a General Strike. If 100 million marched—things would change.
The best German joke is told auf Deutsch:
Warum haben die Franzosen die Champs Elysee mit Baume gekrenzt?
So das die Deutsche Soldaten im Schatten marschieren konnen.
Afraid I’m going to have to disagree here. Hitler borrowed the idea of Der Volk from Germany’s past and twisted for his own ends.
The abstraction that is Der Volk goes back to von Herder and Fichte of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
But if we use your logic, we can justify the absolute desolation of Massachusetts especially since the Kennedy’s were such big Hitler fans.
“As much as Germanys past is a stain on that country, and it definitely is...”
They’ve been politically paralyzed by that past - but they may be shedding that huge burden of guilt just in time to save Das Volk.
I like this one better:
Wenn ist das Nunstück git und Slotermeyer? Ja! Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!
That is just too funny and so very true.
Guten Abend und frohe Wiehnachten.
The germans pay their women to have children.
wonder if we could try that here?
Aufstehen! (outstanding!)

if a person didn’t understand German and heard this song; I personally believe they would find it to be a very rousing song, which it is.
it is the german version of Damn the Torpedoes! Full speed ahead! IMO
Mein Hund hat keine Nase!
Wie riecht ihn?
Schrecklich!
Europe (and to some extent the USA) feels very 1788.
I expect the entrenched government powers of today may provoke a repeat.
except this time it will come from the right instead of the left.
It wasn’t the Right in Germany, rather the National Socialist Left.
in 1920s/30s yes, but today? There is a strong push for nationalist ideas right now. The turks and other migrant workers Germany let in after WW2 have almost destroyed the ethnic germans and the german gov’t has finally awakened to that fact.
As far as Naziism goes, that will likely never pop up in Germany again. Today’s germans are not as regimented as the germans of the Nazi period were.
