Are you aware that George P. Bush led the Republican ticket to victory in TX on November 4, 2014? I am pretty sure he got more votes than both Abbott and Cornyn.

Cornyn: 2,860,678 61.6
Abbott: 2,796,234 59.2
GPB: 2,826.751 60.7
GPB at the bottom of the state ballot was only 40,000 votes shy of Cornyn at the top.
It could be a mistake to write off Jebbie in TX in 2016.
