I’ve read reports he was armed with a shotgun. I wonder if he got it legally, because that would likely be a Category A type. Not what I’d choose for a firefight.
With his criminal record, he could not have even had an A/B licence. Even if the gun was one most people could readily own, he would have been prohibited.
