A hostage has been forced to hold up an Islamic State flag in the window of a shop in Martin Place that is currently under siege.
It is believed there are 12 hostages in the store and an ISIS flag has been placed in the window.
Martin Place is the main financial area of the Sydney CBD.

Glad he put the guy in touch with negotiators. Just odd that he called a radio host to begin with.
The more we hear about this guy, the more unnerving it is. He doesn’t sound stable at all. Ratcheting up the prayers for those hostages.

According to the The Daily Telegraph Australia,
a Sydney man came face to face with the hostage-taking gunman, who threatened to “shoot him too”.
Craig Stoker, a father of four, had come out the cafe after buying his morning coffee when he bumped into the gunman.
Mr Stoker explained: “He was wearing a black T-shirt with white writing on it and a headband and carrying a blue bag.”
The gunman “turned round and said: ‘Do you want me to shoot you too?’ I looked into his eyes and they were crazy. I was pretty freaked out,” Mr Stoker added.
I’m still watching, but it’s dull and boring - which is a lot better than a lot of alternatives, but to me it looks like they are settling down for a long wait.

I think you could be right. This could go on for quite a while. If it does and the hostages all survive, it’ll be worth it.
I’m worried something will set him off and it could end in a hurry in a very bad way. I hope the negotiators are able to keep him calm.
I don’t think they have the guts to put themselves at any risk of going to prison. But if not for that, I could see them doing that.
ADL disgust me. They’ve tried to infiltrate the Royal Australian Navy, which I served for over twenty years. They are not just some political group. They are racist against a wide range of different people - and try to use their anti-Islamism as a mask for the rest of it.

trouble is the nutcases will be on them as well...so what’s true or not will get muddled.
But appararently he is making hostages post his demands.
At least 3 media outlets have been contacted by hostages under apparent instructions from the gunmen
