A hostage has been forced to hold up an Islamic State flag in the window of a shop in Martin Place that is currently under siege.

It is believed there are 12 hostages in the store and an ISIS flag has been placed in the window.

Martin Place is the main financial area of the Sydney CBD.

We’ve heard rumours of a bomb vest, but no confirmation as far as I’ve seen.

More need to speak out as a whole...but when they’ve attempted to protest Muslims plan a counter so the cities do not want riots ...thus Islam continues it’s push.

Thoughts are now turning as to how to move more than a million people out of the Sydney CBD as the work day ends, and the transport system is in chaos.

They'll have to reroute all the transit so it doesn't go through the chocolate shop.

Sydney has a good underground rail system. Most of it is still running at the moment, but they’ve got diversions, etc. There are also buses - with diversions again. The ferries on the Harbour look OK at the moment, which work well for some people.

I heard earlier there may be 4 explosives set up ‘across Sydney’. Rumor mill runs wild on these so who’s to really know....

The rail line is underground. Martin Place (where this is happening) has both a railway station and a major bus interchange. The flow on effects on Sydney transport will be major to say the least.

We’ve had those reports too. They’re not saying but it looks to me like they’ve been checked out and either dismissed or dealt with.
