A hostage has been forced to hold up an Islamic State flag in the window of a shop in Martin Place that is currently under siege.
It is believed there are 12 hostages in the store and an ISIS flag has been placed in the window.

LOL! That, they do.
All I know is the letting out of some of the hostages is a good sign...but they are not done yet...it gets testy as it goes now...as he’s armed.
Australian police are seemingly very calm about this as they speak....and don’t seem to let the reporters rile them
Sometimes those they let go are those needing medical attention or have health issues....that’s generally so in hostage situations.
I’d say we’ve been watching it for a while now. It’s becoming more obvious as time goes on.
>The Grand Mufti of Australia has issued a statement in which he condemns the siege in Martin Place.<
.
Now that the Grand MF has condemned the situation in the chocolate shop, let him enter it and threaten the culprit with excommunication.
Just three have been confirmed to have left the building.
However the “strength” of what they are bringing into this situation is really strong...as is the duration....it would indicate to me there’s much to be concerned with we aren’t privy to.
They’re saying these 3 escaped, not released.
Whoa! A lot of big trucks just rolled up, the reporter stating they’re used to handle things such as chemical attacks.
Seems odd for a committed terrorist, they're usually sort of mercilessly absolutist. Odd. There's more to this story.
But they ran in the same direction...which indicates they were given instructions.
The video replay they’ve shown was clear the three escaped. The employee came out the fire door and the two customers bolted out the front door.
Those big trucks that just rolled up are definitely a reason for concern. Prayers going hard and fast for the rest of the hostages and everyone else in the vicinity.
They’re going to fentanyl it, and grab the unconscious onto the trucks. Moscow put them on buses unattended, which added to the fatalities, choking in sleep.
I watched that U Tube link, but it says for Australian viewers only...??
Think about how they’ve handled other “hostage” situations....regarding terrorists. Officials know the situation could become explosive any time....
The number of the police and the firetrucks etc. coming in evidence their coul be other happenings they’re preparing for.
If it’s true there are explosives, and I wouldn’t be surpprised...then this would account for the engines.
Maybe the gunman was buying time by letting those three go?
A policeman came out the fire door right behind the employee. He may have told them where to run once they were outside, but how he got in there and wasn’t seen by the hostage taker is beyond me. Just glad he did!
UK Daily Mail reporting police have penetrated 2nd floor above the cafe. Including photos.
Oh gosh, I hope that’s not what they’re going to do!
YES!!
In first thread someone said there was a lift (elevator) that came down between Lindt and outside, like an entryway...as they were warning those upstairs evacuating not to use as they could be taken hostage...maybe that is where the policeman was standing out of sight. The café has several entrances it seems.
