"The rise in European far-right parties is largely tied to Russian policies first developed during the Cold War. These policies, called "special war," attempt to conduct foreign policy through a combination of espionage and dark money rather than traditional warfare. Russia expert John Schindler explains that while the Soviet Union backed communist-leaning parties to influence politics, Russia is now financing far-right parties in an attempt to steer European politics."
The Russians figure they can buy support in Europe where sanctions against Russia are hugely unpopular.
And few Europeans like the EUSSR.
Putin was quite popular around here not too long ago.
It's obvious that only sane persons believe in unlimited illegal immigration, higher energy prices, and unsustainable government spending.
The US is leaving a void which will be filled in.
Europe doesn’t stand for anything. So they can easily be controlled by whomever exhibits a stronger hand.
They are just the the sad shadow of a people that only occupies the great cities created by their superior ancestors.
He seriously UPGRADED HIS MILITARY, he will get respect.
We GUTTED ours...we are being treated appropriately.
UKIP? Really? What a bunch of crap!
Neither UKIP nor the National Front have any relationship with either Putin or Russia. The main source for the article, something called CESI, is by its own admission an anti-Russian website with a bunch of stringers. Its "About" page is written in barely intelligible broken English. No care was taken in putting it together and it is obviously a front for some interested party. Even the CIA would not use a front as bush league as this.
I would not be concerned about this article if it did not unfairly smear three credible and positive figures in Europe: Nigel Farage, Marine le Pen and Geert Wilders. Ms. le Pen has recently gained support from the French Jewish community, for example. UKIP is not on the "Right". They are in the center, poaching voters from both Labour and the Tories.
You should have caught this before you posted the article.
The only tinkering Putin is doing in America right now is trying to get Trump impeached. He thought Hillary would win and he tried to make her go into office weakened.
TRUMP is a Putin nightmare. I wouldn’t doubt that Russians are feeding false Intel to FBI to help with collusion story. They are probably the source of some of the leaks to media.
Correlation is not causation. Both Putin’s influence and “European far right parties” are independent reactions to the rise and expansion of the EU bureaucracy’s influence and power.
The fact that they find some level of common cause is hardly surprising. Russia has always desired to influence the other Slavic states in Eastern Europe and the EU, for all its shortcomings, is an obstacle to that.
Within EU states, particularly in the west, the “far right” parties (and to a lesser extent hard left parties) are often the only available outlets for Europeans who distrust the centralization of power. Only Norway and Switzerland resisted joining, and the U.K. stands out as the only member state where anti-EU politicians were not marginalized.
In every other western European state, anti EU, anti immigration politicians have been marginalized and sometimes prosecuted by the establishment. Many voters rightfully resent the lack of voices and are now willing to support anyone who is willing to stand up to the would be hegemons of the EU.
