McCain didn’t win without the conservatives... remember Jebbie? What horse hockey in this article. Is this a plant piece?
McCain locked up the conservative vote in the general. As the GOP's amnesty candidate, though, there was little to differentiate him from Obama, except for the fact that he was for the plutocrats who helped cause the 2008 financial meltdown. So the swing voters in the Midwest stayed home, and he lost, big time. Opposing amnesty is a potent issue that can work for the GOP with swing voters, but only if the candidate isn't Romney (i.e. a guy who boasts about reveling in letting people go and talks about the 47%). Great candidate for CFO or CEO. Lousy politician who can't open his mouth without offending large chunks of the electorate. Unforced error after unforced error - there ought be a picture of Romney in the dictionary under the definition of political klutz.
