The primary reason for the Articles of War containing a penalty of death for buggery was the practice of some of the officers against the foremast Jacks (enlisted sailors). Homosexual officers also buggered each other, but that seldom resulted in Court Martial.
If anyone thinks that this group of officers would not use their power and authority to rape a junior enlisted man, I have a bridge to sell you. Officers have a duty to protect their soldiers, sailors, airment, and Marines; especially from other officers. Our degenerate political masters have gone too far.
