Serious question: So, do all people who lived and died before Christ are in hell?
There must be billions of Japanese, Indians and Chinese there as well.
All who died before Jesus ascended to the Holy of Holies in Heaven on the early morning of Resurrection Day, went to Sheol (Heb.)/Hades(Gk.)/Hell (Eng.).
Enoch walked with God, and was not. He did not die, because God translated him somewhere. The Bibl does not say whre.
Elijah was taken up away from this earth in a fiery chariot. He is not dead, but where he is, is not known. Otherwise, everyone, including Jesus, went to Sheol. Read the story of "the rich man and Lazarus" in Luke 16:19-31 to see how Hell was arranged.
Those who were in the Paradise/Abraham's Bosom part of Hell were taken with Jesus when He ascended to Heaven. They are no longer in Hell.
If I understand your question properly, Are all people, who lived and died before Christ, in Hell?
Technically, yes,..in HADES, not in the third heaven, until after the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. They are not in the Lake of Fire, until after the Great White Judgment.
Let's clear up a couple of meanings. First, Christ is eternal, existing from before eternity past through eternity future.
Secondly, the word used in Scripture is HADES, or the Greek for the underworld. There are 4 known compartments in HADES: Paradise Lost (also known as Abraham's Bosom, where believers went after death, prior to the Resurrection of Christ), The Torments (where unbelievers are sent prior to the future Great White Throne Judgment), TARTARUS (a prison for the fallen angels of Gen 6, Jude 6, 1Pet3, 2Pet2:4 ; and The Abyss (where certain criminal fallen angels have been confined until the middle of the Tribulation, Luke 8:2, Rev 9:1-3,11).
The Lake of Fire is a destination in the future made for fallen angels (Matt 25:41), while those who are found in the Book of Life or other books by their Works will be saved. Those not found will be cast into the Lake of Fire.
