I don’t think this would be necessary but the geopolitical ramifications of US drilling are so profound the government subsidies to make it happen would be cheaper than a wide array of other options.

The possibility of destabilizing or crushing governments such as Venezuela, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, ISIS, and broadly reducing profit to terror friendly states is vitally important.

The possibility of not having to militarily rescue the oil supply of China with our own 5th fleet is an incredible shift in power toward us.

I was with you up until that statement. There’s either a typo in there, or else I just don’t understand it.

The price of oil including in oil rich states is et on the world market. For it to stay cheap it most flow freely everywhere. Any stoppage will cUse prices to go up. Even here.

No way should our government support our oil industry. You really think the U.S. GOVERNMENT will be any better at it then the other tyrants? Expensive or cheap we should not help oil and gas prices either through direct aid of military help. Let free citizens decide how to handle it. Oh wait we actually did that for once and got a cracking boom.

This is what I was hoping for from Bush2 after 911.
A Manhattan project to wean us off their oil.
