People always say the 12% number but always forget to factor in that half of them are women, and a large percentage are less than 12 and greater than 35 years in age
If we want to go by statistics in order to determine who to date, all women should be lesbians. The percentage of violent crimes committed by men vs. by women is quite different.

Keep in mind that of the 12% approximately 1/2 are males. So most of the violent crimes are committed by just 3% of the population.
