Even better was the “black taxi dilemna”; years ago the news was covered with stories about how black men couldn’t get taxis in NYC at night. The issue died quickly when it was revealed that many of the cabbies refusing to stop for them were BLACK.
No reason for anyone else to let down their guard when their own people don’t. One of the reasons for suburban crime is because urban blacks have already secured everything they own that is worth stealing.
I once had a real problem getting a taxi to pick me up at a 7-11 at night in a black neighborhood. (Long story.)
After waiting for over an hour I called back and told the dispatcher they’d have no problem recognizing the fare because I was the only white guy there.
Black cabbie pulled up in less than 5 minutes. He told me he would never pick up a black guy, and probably not young black women, in that neighborhood. Several cabbies had been murdered in the previous year, and it wasn’t white fares killing them.
