Between being so trigger happy they gun down kids with remote controls and toy guns, regarding all dogs as menaces that need to be put down, expansive use of corrupt asset forfeiture laws to deprive citizens of their property without due process, over-deployment of SWAT teams (bad enough when there’s not a hostage situation, but worse when they don’t check the address on the warrant or launch one in response to an uninvestigated denunciation of a neighbor/rival/enemy), old-fashioned corruption, harassment for DWB (driving while black — yes, that is a real thing, it’s not just people who look like ghetto thugs, cops stop middle-class well-dressed black folk with greater frequency than the proportion of blacks in the population would predict), it’s becoming clear the real problem with cops in the early 21st century is that the few good ones give the rest a good name.

Not sure I’d go that far, but I understand your point.

90% of all cops are good decent folks trying to make a difference in their communities.

With that said, there is little worse than a rogue or crooked cop with the power to oppress. This is the reason it is imperative there be checks and balances to watch over police forces in an effort to ensure bad apples are expelled before incidents occur.

It’s just common sense.
