It’s peeling an onion. They’re putting Gruber in a box. His only defense so far has been that he was just a numbers cruncher, he had nothing to do with the writing the bill or the politics in selling it-i.e. he was/is not a political adviser, his arrogant comments were his speaking as a private citizen who basically was conjecturing as he had not real knowledge of the political machinations of the Obamacare debate and passage.
Subsequent steps - establish how much he was paid for his work. In detail, what did he do to earn the money? Ask him to provide the methodology in his reports and also those reports.
How many times was he at the WH? Who did he meet with and what was discussed while he was at the WH?
Read the parts of the bill that he made the glib comments about (Cadillac tax, exchange subsidies) and ask him to reconcile what the bill says and his comments.
