OK, no arguement there. But America, a nation founded by Christians, on the idea of religious freedom for Christians, who enshrined God everywhere in it’s documents and buildings, is filled with muslims, satanists, wiccians, Zoroastrians, Rastafarians, Hindus, Bhuddists, Shinto followers and machine fetishists.

Egypt had plenty of variety as well. That’s all I’m saying. And many, including Copts themselves, went on to become muslims. The only ‘identifiable’ or ethnic group of people in the whole area there to my knowledge, without mass defection/embracing Islam, were the Jews. Because of those defections, Muslims swept the Middle East.

Actually, the Middle East used to be a region of enormous religious diversity. It is now less diverse than ever, and is losing diversity.

For the last 1400 years Muslims have been dominant, but by no means always in the majority.

Islam itself used to be far more diverse than at present. Saudi money and fundamentalism have cut way down on local variability.
