Russia's railway authorities have announced the cancellation of all passenger rail services to Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan for 2015. All international passenger rail services to these countries will cease to run on 14 December, with the cancellation of services set to last for at least one year - TASS reports.

Officials have said the decision to cancel these rail routes was taken due to their low profitability.

Budget measure, but y’know, the sanctions haven’t had any impact.

Smells like bull crap. You can’t bypass Ukraine traveling by train to Moldova from Russia.

Yea! Well Putin’s puppets will continue to have rail service.

Maybe it’s for the best if Ukrain gets its own rail lines. So they’re Independant of communist Russia.

Well that's one advantage they have over Amtrak.

Budget measure, but y’know, the sanctions haven’t had any impact.

Russia has already announced a roughly 5% budget cutbacks across the board for 2015, meanwhile the United States has operated without a budget for the past six years.

Which policy do you think is more conservative?

If true, it makes sense. Gotta have rail to move armor, troops, ammo, etc..

the United States is living in a fool's paradise. Sooner or later, the piper must be paid. If it were not for EBT cards and printing presses, the sheep would feel the financial mess we are in.

Yes completely independent of all things Russian, Russia is headed towards utter isolation and are preparing for war.

Ukraine has own railways. It has no coal and uranium fuel rods for power stations. And not enough natural gas. It has big debts. Biggest portion of Ukraine trade is with Russia. 3-5 mln Ukrainians were guestworkers in Russia.

Railways were not removed, they are Ukraine’s property. Ukraine has own trains. Travels from Russia to Moldova still is possible I think

By the way the Russian Ruble is now 50/1 against the U.S. Dollar. Gospodine Putin has some hot problems on his hands.
