Eleven crew members and two passengers fell ill on a US Airways flight from Tel Aviv to Philadelphia on Saturday, causing it to make an emergency landing in Rome, AFP reported, quoting Italian media.
According to the report, the crew members and passengers were suffering from red eyes and vomiting.
A malfunction in the ventilation system of the plane could be to blame but no further information was available.

You'd better tell the Captain we've got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital.

How soon can we land?
I can’t tell.
You can tell me, I’m a doctor.
No, I mean I don’t know.
Can’t you take a guess?
We, not for another two hours.

Thats a lot of crew members on 1 planeNot really. For a non-stop that long, you need two sets of pilots. looks like it's an Airbus 330. So that's 4 for the cockpit. Depending on configuration, it could have anywhere from 250 to 400 passengers. Say 8 flight attendants.

Didn’t something similar to this happen about six (6) months ago also?

There is s “flight attendant disease” that complains of “an odor of unknown origin” - they’ve been told that this odor is caused by evil airline executives skimping on maintenance. It is becoming epidemic.
The power of suggestion is powerful. “Smell something. It smells like dirty socks. Do you smell it?”
“Me too. Call the captain... Barf...”
