Pelosi’s brother Tommy D’Alessandro III or IXth, was also the mayor of Baltimore in the late 1960’s and let black mobs burn out almost all of the Jewish stores in East Baltimore.
My friends lost those small stores and often had to retire because they were too old to start again. The riots put a lot of good, hard-working black people out of work when D’Alessandro caved into the rioters and did almost nothing to stop them.
We had a family business in Baltimore and our block was essentially protected (whites, blacks, American Indian) by the local liquor store that armed its staff, put hoses and ammo on the roof, and spread the word around the area of Orleans and N. Washington/Chester Streets that any rioter/looter would be shot and killed. No problems.

After that, Baltimore began its long descent down the cesspool of liberal Democrat rule (with the exception of Mayor Schaeffer), that included the regime of Gov. Martin O’Malley (who could have become a great leader except that he turned out to be a Marxist).
I left Baltimore in 1966 after having been born and raised there, a time of pride, jobs and stability, and an increasing, peaceful racial integration.
D’Allessandro and the riots set back these relations for decades, just like Holder and Obama had done on a national level.
