Bill Cosby Seeks to Dismiss New Sex Abuse Lawsuit
pagesix ^ | 12/5/2014 | AP

A woman suing Bill Cosby for sexual battery attempted to sell a story about the comedian to a tabloid a decade ago and tried to extort money in exchange for her silence, Cosby’s attorney said in a court filing Thursday.

Attorney Martin Singer wrote in the filing that the lawsuit by Judy Huth and her attorney followed a failed attempt to extort $250,000 from Cosby. In the filing, Cosby seeks more than $33,000 from Huth and her attorney.

The filing comes two days after Huth sued, claiming the comedian forced her to perform a sex act in 1974 when she was 15. The incident occurred in a bedroom of the Playboy Mansion after Cosby gave Huth and a 16-year-old friend alcohol, according to her lawsuit.

Were it my daughter 20 years ago I would tell her to leave it alone. If it was so bad she should have made the charge when it meant something. “Where there’s smoke. there’s fire,” maybe some, but I would bet where there is smoke there are a lot of women looking for a piece of the fire who were never burned in the first place. There are sure many lawyers right now looking for women who met Cosby some place some when for 10 seconds or more or were at least in the same town at the same time..

In the one drugging/rape case that he settled in 2006, an additional 13 women came forward to support her and the methods he uses and that she said were used in his 2004 rape of her.

Cosby supports Obama and called the republicans racists.

Cosby was also involved in promoting the Tawana Brawley rape hoax.

Cosby is a republican hating democrat.

Exactly. Yet the man makes a few comments about black men pulling their pants up and earns the undying admiration of some Freepers.

...that makes the problem larger than Cosby himself.

Good point. There were enablers who share in the guilt of any wealthy or powerful predator. I count among these none other than the bizarrely-esteemed-even-among-conservatives Hugh Hefner. At least one of the alleged victims was an underaged girl who Cosby assaulted at the Playboy mansion. People there - and nothing goes on at the mansion that Hefner does not permit - knew what was going on.

You are blaming your daughter instead of the monster who violated her.

Thanks for posting the news. I do not know if Cosby is guilty of the allegations. Everything I have learned confirms that the man is guilty as sin. IF SO, I and - I am sure - many others take a measure of pleasure in the “speed bumps” that have been placed in the man’s life; namely the loss of the prestige and honor that he has for so long coveted and taken for granted. The Scripture says: “The sins of some men go before them, the sins of others follow after.” Unlike many others whose offenses are not revealed in this life, at least Cosby has been granted the opportunity to reflect and hopefully feel remorse for whatever he has done, and to make amends.

Thanks for your brilliant statement, which exhibited both spiritual discernment and care for Cosby. We can hope that the Lord is able to use this either to reclaim Cosby from himself and Satan or, if already a believer, to draw him closer. Indeed, now that he's been brought so forcefully to our attention, do we not have the duty to pray for him?

Thanks again.

Yeah, earlier someone responded that it was incredible that HH apparently strictly enforce age checking at the entrance. Given what allegedly went on inside (ie orgies, etc) that seems like an almost unimaginable breach of moral responsibility to the community at large by him, legalities aside. He has a daughter who would have been about 21 or 22 at the time this allegedly occurred, so HH should have known better (thought: could she and her friend been smuggled in underneath a blanket and/or behind tinted glass in a limo?). And yeah, I suppose other people who went there should have sensed the lack of security, although perhaps it is not their primary responsibility since they did not own the property. On consideration, perhaps it was the case that this occurred relatively infrequently and it was usually taken care of by guards, visitors and/or HH himself as soon as it happened, and that the instance in question was an outlier. I am not being an apologist for HH. I just was not there and I do not have any firsthand knowledge of what went on there. So far, this is the only alleged instance I have heard of an underage person being brought to the mansion and then mistreated. I did a lot of crazy stuff when I was growing up, and I am lucky to be alive considering all the stunts I pulled and all the potential times I put myself in serious harm’s way, way back when. Ah, to be young and dumb... :-)

1 Timothy 5:24 (NIV):

24 The sins of some are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them.

(just tracking it down and noting out of curiosity and for reference purposes)

Hardly.I suppose I am harking back to a time when out of wedlock sex carried serious a social stigma. Now it is politically correct to flaunt it. An injury many years ago is not healed or improved by the injurer getting “getting his” now. I also do not accept that the seriousness of the allegation determines guilt.S ome, if not most of these women are surely vultures jumping in for a share of a rich mans assets- wealth Redistribution. Do you want your daughter to announce that she has been raped? And it wonders me. These women are wearing their rapes, if such they were or if there was even any contact, like badges. If it had happened I should feel more like the more honorable course would have been immediate charges to the police or immediate punishment by a father or husband.

Yep. AND he was ‘protected’ until he ‘went off the plantation’.

Now he is a runaway slave and the dogs are being used to hunt him down.

Their only fault was that of some on this forum, who apparently think that kind, fatherly Dr. Huxtable would never do such a thing.

That is odd, because of all the threads I have been on about Cosby, no Freeper, that I remember, said that Cosby didn't take advantage of these young women.

Can you point out a post where someone said Cosby is totally innocent of these charges ?

Remember, this woman who claims to have been 15 at the time also says that a 16 year old ‘friend’ was with her and Cosby at the mansion and ‘given’ alcohol’ by Cosby.

So that makes at least 2 minors that somehow got into the mansion where ADULT ONLY activities occur.

How could this be ?

I can imagine a couple of ways. I read the complaint, and if I understand it correctly, it implies (though does not specifically state) (cf. Huth v Cosby complaint, p. 2) that the minors were driving a car following BC’s car to the playboy mansion. It sounds as if there was no guard since the complaint states only that BC advised them to lie about their ages to playboy bunnies, not guards. Beyond that, it seems that no law required an age check to the premises of the playboy mansion. I think the playboy mansion might have been a relatively unusual place in the LA area, and that it might have escaped legal regulation by informal means (eg, having playboy bunnies informally looking out for underage minors). This is just a guess...

According to the complaint (p 2), if I read it correctly, BC allegedly gave the minors alcoholic beverages at the tennis club, not the mansion.

Here is the complaint so you can read it in full and form your own opinions rather than rely on someone else to read it and try to interpret it for you:

Why don’t you take a look at it and answer your own questions? :-)

IANAL

While I realize that our system of justice is not perfect, it still demands evidence in order to prosecute a case. Part of Cosby’s problem now may be that he settled out of court at least a couple of times, if what I have read here is true. In the minds of some, that is a tacit admission of guilt.

When do you think the first police report was filed and the first rumors appeared? How about the late 1990s and 2000.

And what plantation did Cosby leave?

Cosby is a big Obama supporter, a lifelong democrat, despises republicans and has called them racist, and was a promoter of the Tawana brawley rape hoax.

From newsbusters: Bill Cosby Rants Against Republicans, Compares Them to Segregationists for Not Applauding Obama
By Matthew Sheffield | March 5, 2013

Unless he had just eaten a bad cup of Jell-O pudding, it would appear that actor and comedian Bill Cosby seems to really, really hate Republicans.

The veteran entertainer made that very clear Monday morning when he claimed that Republicans not applauding President Obama’s State of the Union address in unison with Democrats were “as bad as the people who were against any kind of desegregation.” He also wondered aloud about whether or not Republicans today are upset that slavery is no longer legal.

Cosby made these remarks on the CNN morning show “Starting Point” after soon-to-be-former host Soledad O’Brien referenced how much better things have gotten for those of African ancestry inside the United States since the 1960s civil rights movement.

The famous comedian and longtime Jell-O pitchman rejected her statement.

“I don’t think so,” he said. “Not when you look at the president’s speech recently. To see people sitting down and then they there are others standing and cheering. I don’t think it’s difficult believe. I think that we have people sitting there who are as bad as the people who were against any kind of desegregation.”
(snip)
I think it’s dumb to say is it time when we stand and say the pledge of allegiance, for which it stands. Where are you going with this? Where are you going with the promise of what the United States of America really is?

It’s also interesting that this Republican Party is not the Republican Party of 1863, of Abraham Lincoln, abolitionists and slavery, is not good. I think it’s important for us to look at the underlying part of it. What is the value of it? Is it that some people are angry because my people no longer want to work for free?”
