Read the series on the reversion of the Congo at the site “Unamusement Park” some time. It includes an article from Time Magazine, from the early 60s, IIRC, which expounds upon the glories of modern civilisation being brought to that nation. The rest of the series tells how they have been almost completely wiped out-paved roads, infrastructure, etc-as if they’d never existed there.

Thanks for the info. I’d never heard of Unamusement Park before. Went and browsed around and it appears to be a very informative and fact based site. Many here would benefit from a visit.
