I remember as a 13-year-old going to Marin County Board of Supervisors meetings with my mother. Boxer was on the Board at the time, and even then I could tell she was pretty much a non-entity. Not so much a radical Leftist or any sort of activist, just...an empty shell.

It has been amazing to watch the Powers That Be elevate her as a mouthpiece over the years. She really had no business on the Board, much less getting elected to the House and Senate, but having a wealthy and well-connected attorney as a husband helped her meet the right people, who apparently saw value in turning her into a feminist icon - but one who always remembered her job was to reward the right special interests.

Boxer would win re-election in California even if she spends zero money AND gets caught in the Senate conference room supply closet with Harry Reid. If she retires any democRAT would easily win even if that person spent zero money and got caught with Harry Reid in a supply closet.

I noticed the same thing at the time. Without Dan White, ChiFi might have been a non-entity as well.

BTW, Boxer owes her career to perhaps one of the most corrupt politicians in California history, having started as an aide for John L. Burton.
