Walmart greeters face-to-face with a gun

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metro Police are searching for a pair of thieves who pulled a gun on a greeter at a local Walmart store.
Surveillance cameras got a good look at the people responsible and investigators hope that leads to a break in the case.
Police say the two thieves stole from a Walmart and threatened employees with a gun. The store near 73rd and Keystone does have surveillance and cameras captured images of the suspects.
"So that's the two that did it?" asked shopper Tajuanea Dobbins. "That's scary to hear, yeah. That is scary to hear something like that."
Police say two female Walmart greeters saw the suspects carting a TV out of the store. When one of the greeters asked to see a receipt, one of the men pulled a gun and put it up to the employee's head.
The other greeter ducked and ran.

I question the legality of checking receipts. The stuff I purchased is my property and I don’t feel they have the right to search me, especially since I’ve obviously come from the checkout area.

Evidently you don’t shop at Costco, Sam’s club or any of the various warehouse style establishments. It’s in the membership agreement. Asking for a receipt is quite common at many stores, even if they don’t have a sign posted.
This is especially true in less secure parts of town.
