For many years, the white population split almost equally between Republican and Democrat. For this reason, the Blacks became an important constituent for the Democrats. They voted as a block, and if their turnout were great enough, could swing an election to the Democrats.
Now, thanks to Obama, there is a shift of whites from the Democrat party to the Republican. When the shift becomes big enough, the Democrat party will be finished. No amount of black turnout will save them.

Well stated, better than I can do. And yep, what you say is already the case in the South. Other than some districts draw specifically for blacks, the Dems are about finished here. They have virtually no white representatives anymore - no one wants to get near them. The Dems are lucky to get 25% of the white vote and are now at 11% in Mississippi, and while there are a lot of blacks in Mississippi, there are a lot more whites. It’s been a PURGE thanks both to Obama and also the Dems embracing things that are simply too much for whites, starting with gay marriage.
