Actually, the Russian armored units are scattered across the country and it would take a massive effort to mobilize and move those forces into position, which would clearly be seen by our satellites. Also, most of the Russian superiority in numbers has been mitigated by the fact that they've moved thousands of armored vehicles into storage facilities. In fact, I read a recent article that said for the first time since the 50s, there's actually more NATO tanks than there are Russian!
I'll take that point, but what NATO is doing will very likely be seen as provocative by Putin who may consider a response. Has that scenario been gamed-out by NATO?
