The Republican Lieutenant governor of Missouri today said he believes the states Democratic Governor, Jay Nixon, did not deploy National Guard troops to Ferguson to prevent the outbreak of violence because of pressure from the Obama administration to keep them away.
Heres my question that the governor must answer, Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder said today. Is the reason that the national guard was not in there is because the Obama administration and the Holder Justice Department leaned on you to keep them out?
Kinder noted that the Guard had been sent to other locations in the region. I cannot imagine any other reason why the governor who mobilized the National Guard would not have them in (to Ferguson) to stop this, before it started, he said.
Indeed, there were reports Holder was not happy with Nixons efforts to display force and use the National Guard. From an article Friday in the Washington Post:

Keep asking, frequently and loudly, until Governor Nixon answers.
Bammy is busy sending them to Liberia for Obala control.
Impeach Nixon!
Eric Holder is the real governor of Missouri.
> “Impeach Nixon!”
Somehow, that has a familiar ring to it.
In monitoring the MO State Police scanner last night, I thought I caught references to a National Guard staging area. May be wrong, but if they were in place “just in case” and were not deployed, who issued the “Stand down” order?
If they had deployed the troops...ammo would have been issued out, and it would have turned into a Kent-State-like episode, if you ask me. Won’t say it’s right or wrong....but Army guys are pretty absolute about returning fire if fired upon.
As they should.
Who issued the stand down order? Mr. Benghazi.
One look at The Emperor’s face last night will tell you the answer.
I don’t think the Guard was needed. And, if Holder wanted it held back it will be the only time in this decade that I agree with him.
This was one of the wimpiest riots in a long time.
A strong National Guard presence would have made it look like a very repressive government was putting its boot on the neck of the citizens...
No it would have been a government that respects the property of business owners, and doesn’t let the thugs rule.
Ping.
Police cars burned, car dealerships destroyed, multiple buildings burned, looting....
“wimpy”?
” As they should.”
That kind of depends on what is “fired” at you. You can’t sweat the small stuff, unless your goal is to make things worse.
People keep effectively calling for shoot on sight orders. That is a recipe to set off wars.
Soldiers for crowd control, bad idea.
Who gives a frog's fat ass what it "looks like."
