The police chief speaking during the command post press conference is pathetic. Talking endlessly about the details of the chaos, but refusing to see that their plan to as he put it "treat this like a sporting event or a festival" has utterly failed. He still thinks their plan, which essentially amounts to doing nothing, is succeeding! The most he will admit is that he is "disappointed." It is blatantly obvious to me that the police are so intent on proving that they are not "racists", that they are simply paralyzed. There is widespread gunfire and buildings, cars, etc. burning and the police are talking about being "disappointed"? Pathetic! The animals perpetrating this should be ordered off the streets immediately and if they refuse maximum force should be applied to force them off the streets.

The silver lining I guess is that he is conclusively proving that the police cannot protect you and you are responsible for your own defense. I don't EVER want to hear again how we should all just give up our guns because the police will protect us. What a ludicrous fiction.

That is probably true. However, the police did not have the manpower necessary to prevent this. They needed the National Guard, which is only now arriving, after the fact. The Chief's comment that even if they had 10,000 officers they could not have prevented this is a lie and a weak excuse. Why was the National Guard unavailable? It was Governor Nixon's (D) decision, made contrary to a request last week from the Ferguson Mayor. I suspect this whole event was planned by Democrats from top to bottom: Nixon, Holder and Obama, as agitprop for a national political agenda.
