I don’t know about the rest of the country, but in Seattle, blacks are being squeezed out of their traditional neighborhoods in central Seattle because of gentrification. For the most part, they are migrating to southern suburbs such as Renton, Kent, Tukwila, and the southeastern Seattle area of Rainier Beach. There still aren’t many blacks in the northern suburbs where I live. Lots of Hispanics though, and quite a few Asians. Hispanics dominate the fast-food chains, Asians dominate the community college.
It's the same in San Francisco. Blacks dropped from 15 percent to less than 6 percent over the last few decades due to gentrification. Asians are moving into formerly all black neighborhoods. And the neighborhoods are getting cleaner and more livable.
