What Makes Wisconsin's Republican Governor Scott Walker a Good Choice for 2016

After the GOP’s midterm-elections sweep, the Republican Party holds more U.S. House seats and controls more state houses than at any time since 1928. Having reached this goal, the GOP now needs to look for a 2016 presidential nominee to match this success.

President Calvin Coolidge, who sat in the Oval Office from 1923 to 1929, would be a smart model for the party. He reined in spending and reduced tax rates at a time when it was as needed as it is today. President Ronald Reagan admired Coolidge so much that he hung a portrait of the 30th president in his Cabinet Room.

One talked-about possible 2016 presidential candidate who shares many of Coolidge’s policy bona fides is Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, who won his third statewide race in four years on Nov. 4. The two men have so much in common that it is worth seeing what Coolidge’s experience can tell us about a potential President Walker.

But for the last number of elections the GOPe has foisted “electable” candidates who could “win” blue or purple northern states.

This obviously has not worked. We need a 2016 nominee who instead will galvanize conservatives throughout the country (including “blue” states).

So I say no to GOPe candidates (Walker. Kasich, Bush, Christie) and YES to the authentic conservative who would be certain to win - Ted Cruz!

I completely disagree that Walker should be lumped in with Bush and Christie.

But one thing I am -not- going to do is to engage in a flame war with other freepers about this, I believe we can disagree in good conscience.

No R candidate is going to meet the demands of all FReepers.
Reagan would have been shredded daily if FR existed in the 80s.

That’s one reason that conservatives lose a lot of elections.
Liberals will coalesce around 80% agreement, conservatives shred each other over the last 5%.

Are you suggesting “Mavawick” McCain and his “Gang of Eight” fell under the 80%?

Bull-Sh*t!

Our unemployment rate is down lower than it has been at any time since Obama was elected. Keep in mind that Scott has been opposed by the unions and out of control (and out of state) Democrats in the legislature since he took office. He’s stood for election 3 times in 4 years. Recovery has been slower that he would have liked, but it has been steady.

"What Makes Wisconsin's Republican Governor Scott Walker a Good Choice for 2016"?

His wife likes dairy, bratwurst, and kringle...so my final answer is, "A whole new take on school lunch programs."

What do I win?
