NEW YORK (AP) Jimmy Ruffin, the Motown singer whose hits include "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted" and "Hold on to My Love," died Monday in a Las Vegas hospital. He was 78.
Philicia Ruffin and Jimmy Lee Ruffin Jr., the late singer's children, confirmed Wednesday that Ruffin had died. There were no details about the cause of death.

I happened to know his brother David when he and Eddie Kendricks performed with the Temptations-David probably had one of the greatest singing voices of that generation.
Had it not been for his almost non-stop drug use he could have signed contracts worth millions. He died penniless of a drug overdose in Philadelphia.
I believe his family still think his death was foul play because he was said to have hundreds of thousands of dollars on him when he died but it was missing from his body when he was brought to the hospital.(he had just finished a tour)

Sorry to see him go. IMHO his brother Davy was the better lead. Hear him on “You’ll Lose A Precious Love” and he just soars

GREAT song with extraordinary lyrics that touches the deepest part of the heart for so many.
Joan Osborne has THE absolute definitive version in her live version in the documentary “Standing in the Shadows of Motown” with the legendary Funk Brothers.

At the rate we are going, all the musical stars will be gone and there will be no more music. All we'll be left with are rap-talkers (who die far before they reach ol' age) and autotune compufrauds.
