I was recycled twice for Ranger school. Never got the tab. Mountain phase is going to weed them out REAL quick.
Rolled ankle/broke ankle. Both during MTN phase. FWIW.
Still have my Airborne, Air Assault, and Pathfinder Badges.
I was in the Army...and never even tried out for Ranger School. I knew I would have a hard time making it.
But don’t be surprised if some of these women make it through.
You’ve probably been to Airborne School...do you remember having to do 10 chin-ups before going into the mess all? Do you remember that next to every chin-up bar in the Airborne training area had one right next to it...around 3 feet off the ground? That’s what the women used, lying on their backs - for something as simple as 10 chin-ups, the standards were ‘modified’. Nothing stops them from doing the same at Ranger School.
Of course the APFT is already on different scales, one for each gender. Another example is the Indoor Obstacle Course (IOCT) at West Point. As you can imagine, some of the most physically tough women in the nation attend West Point - and they do a lot of Infantry training with the men, and keep up to some extent. But the IOCT is a gut check.
It took a little over two minutes to finish, and its a brutal sprint (with obstacles sprinkled in) for the entire time. There are trash cans at the finish line to throw up in, to give an idea of how hard it is. Well....and A+ time for a women was barely quick enough for a man to pass it. The scales barely even overlapped, the differences in genders were so pronounced. But it wasn’t a big deal...they just ‘modified’ the scales.
