That whiff of pot that drifts your way at a rock concert or outdoor event could damage your heart and blood vessels as much as secondhand cigarette smoke does, preliminary research suggests.
Blood vessel function in laboratory rats dropped by 70 percent after a half-hour of exposure to secondhand marijuana smoke -- similar to results found with secondhand tobacco smoke, researchers from the University of California, San Francisco reported Sunday.
Reduced blood vessel function can increase a person's risk of developing hardened arteries, which could lead to a heart attack.
"Smoke is smoke. Both tobacco and marijuana smoke impair blood vessel function similarly," said study senior author Matthew Springer, a cardiovascular researcher and associate professor of medicine in the university's cardiology division. "People should avoid both, and governments who are protecting people against secondhand smoke exposure should include marijuana in those rules."

Sometimes the obvious isn't obvious to some people.
Some day we’ll celebrate the creation of a risk-free society. And promptly be arrested for it.
I agree. And I think pot has become a God to some people. Discussing it is like how Obamabots won’t allow anything negative to be said about him. You get weird comments. I fully expect people to argue now that cigars are bad too. Or brandy isn’t good for you either.
Try GOPe interpretations of the most recent election.
But dude, It’s a free contact high!
Or ‘how about alcohol’ huh? HUH?
Then the pot heads say something like this:
WOULD YOU RATHER THEY BE DRINKING?
HUH? ANSWER ME!
From the ingredients in cigarettes, I would think cigarette smoke has far more bad chemicals than pot smoke?
Ha Ha
I know many have prayed for GOD to help us, and I truly feel HE has, by uncovering all the illegal activity Zero has done, but nothing is ever done about them.
I am reminded of the man on the roof during the flood, 3 times help came his way, 3 times he rejected saying "God will provide a way"...........alas he drowned, in heaven he asked GOD why HE didn't help. (well it goes something like that)
What will it take for Congress to do what is needed to get rid of this monster in chief? GOD has done HIS job.
I'm a goner then. I had the great fortune of going to a ridiculous amount of rock concerts at the LA Forum when I was 12 and 13. My Dad's partner owned a luxury box for every event, including all the concerts. I saw The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who, you name it. To this day there's a certain strain of pot that has a slightly bitter odor and when I catch a whiff of it I'm taken back to that first Jethro Tull concert in 1973 when a friend explained to me what that smell was that assaulted us as we walked up the ramp to the Forum. I was such a clean cut kid, but it wasn't possible to escape getting high from the smoke alone in that place.
...and/or sued.
And a demon to others.
I agree...that’s why I only smoke good cigars!
I can vouch that secondhand tobacco smoke is annoying. But famously it hasn’t been proven a health hazard.
It’s so droll when liberals start jumping on liberals about issues that are probably imaginary.
Secondhand liquor vapors?
“could damage your heart and blood vessels as much as secondhand cigarette smoke does, preliminary research suggests.”
Which is exactly none.
When I spit chaw on the ground I was told by a city dwelling pansy that I am damaging the ground water.
Pretty much. Unless you’re allergic or have a sensitivity like asthma, secondhand tobacco smoke is only an annoyance. I appreciate nonsmoking areas for the esthetics.
