Here in NJ cops stopped “doing their job” in black areas years ago; it simply wasn’t worth the risk to their jobs, pensions, and freedom. Now we have urban cops on a high pay scale (a holdover from the days when they were active) who do nothing. Newark NJ laid off 160+ cops a few years ago when the money ran out, and crime didn’t change at all.

Apparently, similar lowering of crime in Oakland, Ca has happened inspite of less cops.
