This type of research should be front and center. We've mapped the genome and are now frantically looking for genetic markers for cancer, obesity, etc.

Gay people claim to have been born that way yet most strongly resist obtaining a definitive answer on the question. When it comes to so-called rights - marriage, employment, etc. - being gay is an unambiguous condition. The rest of the time, of course, sexuality 'is a continuum.'

As many have said, what they fear is voluntary, cognizant selection of partners (or even sperm donors) that have less genetic chance of gay offspring.

it doesn’t make sense because only genes that contribute to the survival of a species would arise.

Previous studies on alcoholism and other complex behaviors show it is highly unlikely that any strong connection to genetics will be found. Also one must realize that regardless of what is found one always have free will. Once you decide that free will does not exist then the idea of free society and liberty is really silly.
