It’s long by FR standards but there are a number of pertinent observations included. It appears the L.E. Ikenga is a “nigerian-American”. When are these folks gonna be just plain old “Americans”? I don’t know if my ancestors ever called themselves “dutch-Americans” or “welsh-Americans”. But, since some of them arrived here in the mid 1600’s, maybe they grew out of being hyphenated citizens over time.

Growing up I was aware of my Scot/Welsh ancestry - but I’ve always considered myself an American. I’ve never looked down on anyone because they were originally from France, or Germany, or Russia - or Africa. The irony is that most of the true Africans I have met are great people, whereas most of the afro-americans........
