Who’s shrugging off corruption? That’s a given. But thgat as it may, contemporary Chicago flourishes largely due to efforts that Jane Byrne initiated. You would have to have been here in the ‘70s to see the difference.

In point of fact, I was living in Rogers Park and moved down to a high rise on Wilson and LSD during the late '70s. Moved out of Illinois in '79 and never looked back.

Chicago flourishing? Yeah, right.

Did you know I've lived in places where bribing a cop is actually illegal? I've actually met cops who won't take a franklin clipped to my license. And what's even weirder, to try and explain how Chicago "works" actually engenders looks of disbelief. Did you know there are towns where the Outfit doesn't run the city council and the public service unions? (Not many, but a few.)
