The Chinese don’t bow, that’s the Japanese.
What an idiot.
Forget it, he’s rolling.
The Chinese aren’t impressed with his gum chewing and some other things as well as the hokey bowing.
Welcome to our world, China.
He’s only trying to be culturally sensitive, unlike the cruel cowboy Bush! /sarcasm;)
Uhh...Yes. Yes they do.
Kowtow, which is borrowed from kau tau in Cantonese, or koutou in Mandarin Chinese, is the act of deep respect shown by prostration, that is, kneeling and bowing
While the full prostration thing is now rarely done, the bowing, slight or full waist bend, in greeting as a sign o respect, usually to elders or those in a higher social or economic position, is very common in China and among those dealing with Asian or Chinese persons. It is usually meant as a greeting or sign of respect.
Hand shaking is not as common as in the West; thus the bow of the head as a respectful recognition.
