Among my prized possessions is a letter my Father wrote home to me from Korea. Interestingly, he signed it "Daddy."
During the first four years of my life, when he was going to St. Joseph's and then when he went to Korea, I lived with my Great-grandmother, Grandmother, Mother and a couple of my Great Uncles. They always referred to him as my "Father" and neither I nor my younger siblings ever addressed him as anything but "Father."

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)
