Oorah has been reported to come from the Turkish word, "Uhrah", which means: "KILL". I have no idea if that is true.

Good enough for me.

Just a couple of miles from the National Museum of the Marine Corps- went over today. A little more crowded than usual, mostly with active Marines. Lots of ‘happy birthdays’. Had a couple of ‘1775’ ales in Tun Tavern topside.

Nice day. Getting dragged to the ball on Friday by a friend who’s a gunny at Quantico, because he wants me to get out of the house once in a while.

S/F, Happy birthday.

Yep, when it was at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. Phenominal school. I had never done any journalism in HS or college but I could type and write so I guess that was why.

Left AD as a Sgt. in 73 and spent about 1-1/2 years in active reserve while I went back to college. Ended up getting an AF commission and was stationed at Minot AFB ND in 1977.

Retired as a Maj. in Feb 94 in Omaha NE, same place where I entered the Corps. Retired AF but once a Marine, always a Marine. I met my wife in the Corps, she was a LCpl. Proud of where I began my military career.

The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy.....the men’s department.

Ok, I always thought it was tacky that when squids head to the “head” they always say “time to make a Marine”.
