It sounds like we have a few potential candidates who are trying to get their markers down early. Of those being considered, Cruz would still be my choice. However, I'm going to let the campaign shape up a bit before making my final decision - I'm open to learning more about some like Scott Walker.
At this stage, I informally classify each candidate into one of four categories and then move them as I learn more about them: Excellent Candidates (Cruz, Palin), Acceptable Candidates (Walker - tending upward, Paul), Hold My Nose and Vote for Them Candidates (Perry, Bush, Huckabee, Trump, Christie - trending down), and No Way in Hell Mitt-Romney-Like Candidates (Mitt Romney - IMO, he's in a class by himself unless Bloomberg throws his hat in).

(Ignore the GOP-e. Cruz to victory in 2016.)

Perry has an immigration problem.
*************
More realistically the USA has an immigration problem. Apparently no one wants to deal with it.

[ You have:
Moderate governors: Krispy, Kasich
More conservative governors: Perry, Walker
Even more conservative senators: Paul, Cruz ]
Where do Nikki Haley and Bobby Jindall fit in there?

I think there’s truth in your observations. I lean that way on W too, when it comes to the economic crash of 2008. He had eight years to avoid that. Instead he made a few statements, wined a bit, and did absolutely nothing else, that I know of.
There’s plenty to blame Obola for in regards to the aftermath, in fact it still goes on today, but we have to be honest about our idiots too.

(The mid-term elections were perfect for him. Now Obama can really lead from behind.)

They’re definitely more conservative governors. Sleeper candidates

Anyone who hopes to win the White House has got to have high marks on a laundry list of attributes - number one of which, is the ability to connect with the public in a charismatic way. Bump, as well as a self-ping reminder of wise words.

Yes. I don’t vote for males who were cheerleaders in college. Won’t happen.
