As was said upthread, if people wanted Congress to make deals with Obama, they could have voted for democrats. They didn't.

Re: more TEApers in Congress. One theory was that a larger Republican majority would afford Boehner a few more moderate R's with which to pass more moderate legislation like immigration.
I'd guess that most every new Republican elected to Congress opposes Boehner's conciliatory tendencies.
