You mean Massa-two-$hits?
I know! Remember, I served 3 years on Cape Cod. Gorgeous place, but there really are some Massholes living there!
Can I buy stock?(Sure do miss “24”)
Yeah they finally rocked last night over Vandy...
Yeah except for Tesla what a machine!
Great post and truth is we have lot of laws on the books that were just ignored by the ozero adm. Kill all his eo’s and follow laws on the books and as you say big changes.
Biggest perhaps is “not” rewarding law breakers.
Life is GRAY WITHOUT “24”.... It is the only thing that makes footbal withdrawal bearable.
Any legislation that allows the lawbreakers to stay and work here is amnesty. Giving the so-called law abiding ones work visas is amnesty. And I gather you would want them to have the ability to have their families join them. Family reunification is one of the demands of the pro-amnesty crowd.
but the slow changes of reducing the welfare impact will help. So will holding employers accountable, which we have not yet.
We have laws on the books that prevent the lawbreakers from receiving welfare and there are penalties for holding employers accountable. The 1986 bill contained employer penalty provisions. The problem is enforcement. We can pass all the laws we want, but unless we have Presidents who want to enforce them, the travesty will continue. Bush 43 and Obama did not enforce our immigration laws.
Then also deporting those who have overstayed their visas.
The US-VISIT program was voted into law in 1996 to track and deport visa overstays. It was never fully implemented. This is not a money problem, it is a question of political will.
That does not create the Drama of sending entrenched families of several generations back on buses, which the media would use to stop ANY changes.
It is not only the media. Motivated by parochial self-interest, the pro-mass immigration, open borders, amnesty advocates have formed a powerful coalition including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, labor union leaders, the Catholic Church, ethnic and racial groups, moderate Republicans, and the Democrat Party. The common thread that unites these groups is power, money, and the prospect of increased constituencies, even at the expense of our long-term national interests and survival.
Here is what a real immigration reform proposal should look like IMO.
Advocate a pro-immigrant policy of low immigration. Republicans need to provide the American people with their own comprehensive immigration reform plan, i.e., give people a reason to vote FOR something rather than just attack the other sides proposals. Such a plan should contain the following elements:
Formulate a merit based immigration system that brings in the skills and talents to keep us competitive in the global economy;
Reduce immigration levels based on need more closely approximating 300,000 a year;
Eliminate extended chain migration, i.e., family reunification, limiting it to the nuclear family,
Secure the border;
Enforce existing immigration laws to reduce the current illegal alien population and limit future illegal immigration, i.e., attrition thru enforcement. Enforcement would include: (1) ending the job magnet; (2) increasing coordination at the federal level by eliminating barriers to information sharing among agencies; (3) leveraging state and local enforcement resources; (4) fully implementing the US-VISIT Program to track and deport visa overstays; and (5) make mandatory and improve such programs as E-Verify and 287 [g] authority to assist employers and law enforcement in identifying illegal aliens;
Eliminate birthright citizenship and the visa lottery program;
Ensure that anyone who enters this nation illegally is not rewarded by being permitted to stay and work here; i.e., no amnesty;
Streamline the processing and adjudication of immigration cases;
Promote pro-immigrant measures that help newcomers assimilate and embrace the values and principles of our Founders and the Constitution.
Yeah I get it. At least Rayeln Jennings will be back soon.....
The administration has successfully administered so much chaos into the immigration theme that its become seemingly complex. Really doesn’t have to be however.Just following existing laws, wall off the border with an Israeli style wall and we will turn things around.
Stakes are so high if we don’t do this and do it soon it may be too late if its not already.
DAMN!
that is the BEST summary I have ever seen..I will copy and print this out and also send it to everyone I know. Thank you for educating this “ignoramous.” This outline is so much better than my uneducated, vague, mushy points/concepts.
thank you for taking the time and having the patience to educate me( and now going forward, a whole lot of other people here on Freep and the ones I will pass this on to) and share this information.
The invasion of NE is from MAssholes and whacked out Liberal Newyawkas.
Don't be too hard on yourself. Most Americans don't understand how our immigration system works and how it impacts our country. I certainly learned a lot when I started to get interested in the subject. We must do something about legal immigration or else the Republic is doomed. The Immigration Act of 1965 has changed America forever--for the worst.
Americans have this romanticized vision of immigration that makes a rational discussion of it very difficult. Immigration to America is a privilege, not a right. And we must have immigration policies that serve our national interest.
If you want to read an excellent about how the GOP can use immigration to broaden its base, Jeff Sessions, Becoming the Party of Work How the GOP can help struggling Americans, and itself. should be required reading for all conservatives. Cheers,
In 1970 one out of 21 was foreign-born; today it is one out of 8, the highest in 90 years; and within a decade, it will be one in 7 the highest in our history. In 1970 we had 9.7 million foreign-born and today it is 41.5 million.
There used to be a billboard on I-70 at the western edge of CO that read “Don’t Californicate Colorado” and drivers could see it easily from the highway.
It reflected the disgust with CA citizens moving to CO and bringing their voting patterns here. They screwed up CA and we don’t want them screwing up CO.
Thanks for the information. I must admit, we have support for Democrats in CO if and when they do a good job of voter outreach and constituent support.
The reason Democrat governor Hickenlooper won reelection is because our GOP challenger, Bob Beauprez was too nice a guy and failed to show and sway voters over differences. Beauprez had all ammunition to win and failed to capitalize on it.
Thanks so much.
I am a legal immigrant and what all we had to go through in the fifties to get here from Germany! Medical clearance, immunizations, security clearances, and a Sponsor here if we got sick or had financial problems!
the slang back then for us was “DP’S” (for “displaced persons). We all wanted to learn English and were so grateful. The immigrants became more American than those here already!ha.
