Nope. In the British media, “Asian” translates as “Muslim rapist we don’t want to identify as Muslim”. Its all explained in “Orwell’s companion guide to a modern mind control hell”

You ARE correct that the media here uses Asian when referring to criminal cases, as a sop to PCism.
BUT as far as referring to communities, Asian in the UK still refers to Sikh and Hindu as well as Muslim. And is also still used in a broader sense by some people to refer to anyone from Asia, which will include people from what we term the Far East/Oriental.
You are right on one point, but wrong on another.
