Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro says he will increase the minimum wage by 15% starting in December.
The raise, the third this year, comes amid an annual inflation rate of 63.4%.
Mr Maduro said the measure and other benefits meant workers would be better off despite the inflation, which he blamed on an "economic war" the opposition were waging against him.
Mr Maduro says Venezuela's economic problems are created by a greedy elite which lives off the profits of smuggling and selling goods at inflated prices.

Nicholas Maduro’s communist policies have impoverished Venezuelans.
His answer is more of the same - class warfare, rationing and bribing people to go along with a system that doesn’t work.
He’s moving the chairs around on the deck of the Titanic.
It really says something that Hondurans, Nicaraguans, and El Salvadorans would rather come here on the death train than go there and stay fairly local.
A friend married to a Venezuelan girl confirmed that; many of the positions of power have been filled by Cubans. He made sure they didn’t speak English around police, and they won’t be going back to visit; now their focus is getting her relatives out. Like Cuba itself, Venezuela is emptying of “creoles” (Spanish-descended whites).
Now get this, since only US owned refineries can presently handle much of Venezuela's heavy crude, the Venezuelans actually import lighter oil stocks to thin their crap and make it easier to refine. Yes, Venezuela under Maduro imports ...OIL! The CHICOM handle this and are building the refineries.
Incidentally, Maduro's war on the middle class has strong racial overtones. The refugees from this cacadero will be the white (er) middle and upper classes, leaving no one to manage anything. You think they are starving now? Wait six months.
And yet they cry for more while, at the same time, bemoaning their fate.
