Fool them once, shame on you. Fool them twice, shame on them. It's not going to happen. The "First Black President" card has already been played. White guilt and Black solidarity won't be as strong this time around.
Plus, Booker won't have the wide appeal Obama did in 2008. He's not really a unknown quality that people can project their own fantasies on to (and there won't the First Black President card to generate those fantasies in 2016).
Booker is going to be typecast as a moderate Wall Street type unless he tacks far to the left, which loses him his base without guaranteeing any gains. He also doesn't appear to have the kind of team in place yet that can make up for his lack of experience, as Obama did in his first campaign.
Moreover, the young guy thing doesn't cut as well for Booker as it did for Obama. Both were inexperienced and relatively youthful in appearance, but Booker's age comes across as boyishness and not in a good way.
And Corey's unmarried. That doesn't play well either. He'll have to spend time explaining that he's not gay (or Jewish, either, since that's the other rumor circulating) or explaining that he is, and either way it cuts into his message time.
In answer to your question, nominating a woman will sway a lot of votes to the Democrats. With a Latino or African-American VP nominee they'll have a shot at winning.
Skin color, or, for that matter, gender, are evidently less critical than making sure that the candidate has a sociopathic personality. The trend started with Clinton and has only gotten worse each cycle.
Its not about skin color - its about charisma, ideas and passion - all of which Obama exhibited in his two successful runs for the White House.
Its like lightning in a bottle. Its difficult to capture that kind of personal appeal in a human being. The Democrats don’t have any one like him who comes close.
Good question! It does put them in something of a box. They may go with a Latino, but then the Blacks will stay away. Ditto for a White woman (Hillary or Warren). That is their conundrum.
Maybe Michelle will run? [/s]
America went black and they CAN go back.
first time hurt too much.
Al Sharpton for President. Bring it on.
Let’s hope they do nominate another Marxist Muslim crack addict.
Uh....we been there, done that. Don’t work if the ONLY reason is “he black.”
Another Black American...maybe
Another Half Black Democratic idiot... I hope not
Simply, no - Obama was elected because he was black - it was cool to vote for him, a cult of personality thing like your ninth grade student government elections - not only will blacks not turn out in droves for a non-black, but by now they’re pretty disillusioned with government’s promises and likely will tunr out in low numbers in the future - bad news for the ‘rats....
Isn’t that why obola is working so hard to flood the country with illegals?
Obama’s being a charlatan and Communist and Muslim and a hater of America has not done American blacks any good. Just the opposite.
