Dude, cut the bluster.

Everyone here knows the damn thing isnt going to be fully repealed with Obama in office.

Dismantle it. Dismantle key parts of it. He likely will still veto them, but each despised piece being repealed will be more potent than sending a full repeal because those hated parts will force him to stand there and defend each provision.

He either has to defend the hated individual mandate or let it go.

Just sending a full repeal of a bill thousands of pages long, isnt going to nearly have the same impact when it is vetoed as sending all of the most publicly despised parts and watching him be the one keeping them in place.

Even so ... you never enter into a negotiation asking for half of what you want, unless you *want* to end up walking away with a fourth of it. You want full repeal, aim for full repeal. Make Obama veto it. Put him on the record. Then chip away at it until there is nothing left.

A repeal bill would not be thousands of pages long. A repeal bill can be done in a single paragraph. You put it on Obama’s desk and force him to veto it. Then you call for a vote to overturn the veto. If you lose, then you have at least fired a shot across the bow and forced Obama and his democrat senators to go on the record so THEY own it.

If you start out with piecemeal legislation tying to “fix” it then you are conceding that the law is both constitutional and worth trying to fix. Then when it all goes to Hell, the democrats can blame the Republicans for breaking it.

I agree with Marlowe. There’s no need for a thousand pages to repeal the law. You could do it with one sentence, probably. “The ACA of such and such a date is repealed in its entirety and in all its extensions.”

There you go. Up or Down; Yes or No.

And then the other guys own it.

I do not trust the republicans as constituted to ‘repeal sections of it’. Instead, they will ‘fix’ sections of it.

The end result will be the New Revised ObamaCare, and we’ll be participants in preserving a legacy for lil Barry Obamer.

Truth be told, big business wants out from under health care as much as they want amnesty and cheap labor. I agree with them, though, that there’s no more logical reason for your employer to pay your health insurance than for him to pay your car insurance.

The answer? Like with car insurance, let everyone just buy their own. No need to get the government involved telling me I need to buy contraception and sex change coverage. Let me decide that. I’m in the best position to know if I’m lopping off any body parts this year.

Exactly.
